Your Locul brain in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, from anywhere
The Locul cloud connector is a hosted MCP server. Add one URL to your AI app, sign in with your Locul account, and it can recall your memories and save new ones, even in a browser with no desktop app running.
Server URL: https://team-api.locul.ai/mcp · Streamable HTTP · OAuth 2.1
01What the cloud connector does
Locul builds a second brain from the notes, documents and dictations you already keep: short memories about the people, companies, projects and decisions in your work. The cloud connector is a hosted MCP server at https://team-api.locul.ai/mcp that lets an AI app reach that brain from anywhere, including claude.ai and chatgpt.com in a browser, with no desktop app running.
Once connected, your AI app can recall what you know about a client before it drafts a proposal, open the note behind a memory to check it, and save something new you ask it to remember. It works with the memories in your Locul cloud brain: the ones the desktop app backs up to your Locul account, plus any you save through a connector.
02Before you connect
- A Locul account with an active plan or trial. You create the account in the Locul app; signing in with Google during the connect step can also create one.
- Memories in your cloud brain. Install the Locul app, point it at your notes and let it build your memories. With the default settings they are backed up to your Locul account and appear here. Memories made in local-only mode stay on your computer and are not available to the cloud connector.
03Tools
The server exposes nine tools. Eight only read. One, create_memory, writes, and it can only add a new memory: no tool edits or deletes an existing memory. Every tool carries the standard MCP annotations (readOnlyHint, destructiveHint), so apps that ask before a write can do so.
recall_memoriesSemantic and keyword recall over your cloud memories, optionally scoped to one person, company, project or topic.Read onlysearch_notesFull-text keyword search across the facts in your cloud memories.Read onlyget_entity_profileEverything on one person, company, product, project, tool or topic: its top memories, relationships and aliases.Read onlyget_brain_indexA top-down map of your cloud brain: total counts plus the entities that come up most.Read onlyget_memory_sourceThe source behind one memory: the fact plus the title and path of the note it came from.Read onlymemory_statsCounts for your cloud brain: active, superseded and orphaned memories, plus entities and sources.Read onlycreate_memorySaves a new memory to your cloud brain right away and links it to the entities it mentions. Duplicates are skipped.WritessearchSearch in the format ChatGPT connectors expect, returning matching memories as result records.Read onlyfetchThe full record for one memory returned by search, in the format ChatGPT connectors expect.Read only
04Set up in Claude
claude.ai and Claude Desktop
- Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Locul and paste the server URL below.
- Click Connect and sign in with your Locul account (see sign-in).
- In a chat, turn the Locul connector on from the tools menu and ask, for example: "What do I already know about Acme Corp?"
https://team-api.locul.ai/mcpClaude Code
Add the server, then run /mcp inside Claude Code and pick Locul to sign in.
claude mcp add --transport http locul https://team-api.locul.ai/mcp05Set up in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, add a custom connector (custom connectors need developer mode, which you turn on under Settings, Apps and connectors, Advanced). Use the same server URL, choose OAuth, and sign in with your Locul account. ChatGPT uses the search and fetch tools, so your ChatGPT chats recall from the same brain as Claude.
https://team-api.locul.ai/mcp06Set up in Cursor
Add Locul to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project). Cursor opens the Locul sign-in page in your browser the first time it connects.

}07Set up in VS Code
Add Locul to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace, or run MCP: Add Server from the command palette and choose HTTP. VS Code asks you to sign in when the server first starts.

"locul": {

}08How sign-in works
The connector uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, so your AI app never sees your password. Apps that support MCP sign-in register themselves automatically; there is no client ID or key to copy.
- Your AI app opens the Locul Connect your brain page in your browser. It names the app asking for access and lists what the connection can do.
- Sign in with Google, with your email and password, or ask for a one-time sign-in code by email.
- Locul sends your app back a short-lived access token for your account only. The app refreshes it in the background, so you stay connected without signing in again.
To disconnect, remove the Locul connector in your AI app. If your plan or trial ends, the server stops answering tool calls until it is active again.
09Privacy and help
The connector can only reach the memories in your own Locul account. Read how we handle your data in the privacy policy, and the rules for using Locul in the terms of service.
