Infomaniak AI: open models from Swiss data centres, set up step by step
Infomaniak's AI Tools serve open models from Switzerland through an OpenAI-compatible API. Here is the Product ID, the token, the test and the Locul setup.
Quick answer
Open AI Tools in the Infomaniak Manager (a card is needed) and copy your Product ID. Then create an API token under your profile's API tokens, scoped to AI Tools, and copy it once. The base URL is https://api.infomaniak.com/2/ai/{product_id}/openai/v1 and the model is Qwen/Qwen3.5-397B-A17B-FP8. In Locul, open Settings > Model > Open models, pick Infomaniak, choose Qwen3.5 397B, enter the Product ID, paste the token and press Test. Infomaniak processes requests in Switzerland.
Who is the Infomaniak AI API a good fit for?
Infomaniak suits Swiss firms, and EU firms happy with Swiss hosting, that want open models run end to end in Switzerland.
Infomaniak is an independent Swiss cloud company based in Geneva. Its AI Tools product (also called AI Services) gives you an OpenAI-compatible API to open models in its own Swiss data centres. It is separate from Euria, Infomaniak's free chat assistant: Euria is an app for people, AI Tools is the API that Locul uses.
"Infomaniak's cloud provider AI services guarantee data protection through end-to-end processing in Switzerland."
Infomaniak support, Getting started with AI Services
"Your queries are neither recorded nor used to train models or improve our services."
Infomaniak, AI Services
For a contract, Infomaniak publishes its data processing terms in the Manager and on its legal pages. The EU recognises Switzerland as giving adequate data protection, so EU firms can send personal data there without extra transfer clauses.

How do I get an Infomaniak AI API token and Product ID?
Open AI Tools in the Manager, copy the Product ID, then create an API token scoped to AI Tools.
Open AI Tools
Sign in to the Infomaniak Manager and open AI Tools. A credit card is needed to start; new products come with some starting credit.
Copy the Product ID
Each organisation has one AI Tools product, shown with its Product ID (a number). Copy it. Locul puts it into the base URL for you.
Create the API token
Open your profile's API tokens page, create a token and give it the AI Tools scope. Name it something like "Locul, Léa's Mac".
Copy it once
The token is shown only once. Paste it into Locul or your password manager before you close the page. You can make several tokens for one product.
"Only one product can exist per Organization, but API tokens can be multiple."

What is the Infomaniak AI API base URL?
The base URL is https://api.infomaniak.com/2/ai/{product_id}/openai/v1, with your Product ID in the middle.
Put your Product ID and token in two variables, then test:
# your Product ID from AI Tools, and the API token
$ export INFOMANIAK_PRODUCT_ID="12345"
$ export INFOMANIAK_API_TOKEN="paste-your-token-here"
$ curl "https://api.infomaniak.com/2/ai/$INFOMANIAK_PRODUCT_ID/openai/v1/chat/completions" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $INFOMANIAK_API_TOKEN" \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"model":"Qwen/Qwen3.5-397B-A17B-FP8","messages":[{"role":"user","content":"Reply with one word: ready"}]}'A working token returns JSON with a choices list:
{"object":"chat.completion","model":"Qwen/Qwen3.5-397B-A17B-FP8",
"choices":[{"index":0,"message":{"role":"assistant","content":"Ready"},"finish_reason":"stop"}],
"usage":{...}}Lost the Product ID? A GET to https://api.infomaniak.com/1/ai with the same token lists your AI products and their IDs.
Which Infomaniak model should I pick in Locul?
Pick Qwen3.5 397B, the largest open model Infomaniak serves, with the long context and tool calls Locul's bots need.
| In Locul | Model ID | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Qwen3.5 397B | Qwen/Qwen3.5-397B-A17B-FP8 | Recommended. Long files, letters, bots with tools |
| Mistral Small 4 | Faster replies for short tasks | |
| Apertus 70B | The Swiss open model from EPFL, ETH Zurich and CSCS | |
| Qwen3.8 27B | A smaller, quicker Qwen |
How do I add Infomaniak to Locul?
Open Settings > Model > Open models, pick Infomaniak, enter the Product ID, paste the token and press Test.
Open Settings, then Model
In the Locul desktop app, open Settings and choose Model.
Choose Open models
Pick Open models (marked Recommended), then find Infomaniak under In your country. Each row shows where the provider runs and whether it trains on your data.
Pick the model
Under Model, choose Qwen3.5 397B. Locul tags it Recommended.
Add the Product ID
Infomaniak needs one extra field. Type your Product ID into the box that appears under the model. Locul builds the base URL from it.
Paste the key
Under Access key, paste the key into the field and press Save and test. The Get a key link opens the right page at Infomaniak if you have not made one yet.
Run the connection check
Under Connection check, press Test. Ready means chat and tools both work. Ready with limits means the model can chat but could not use tools in the check, so pick another model for bots that read files.
Where the key lives. Locul saves it in your Mac's Keychain. It never shows the key again and sends it nowhere except Infomaniak.
Why does the Infomaniak connection check fail?
Usually because the Product ID is missing or wrong, or the token was not given the AI Tools scope.
If the Product ID field is empty, Locul says "Add your Infomaniak Product ID in Settings > Model." before it even calls Infomaniak. The other messages:
| Code | Locul says | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 401 | "Infomaniak did not accept your access key." | Make sure the token has the AI Tools scope and has not been deleted. Create a new one on the API tokens page if needed. |
| 404 | "Infomaniak does not offer Qwen/Qwen3.5-397B-A17B-FP8 for your account." | Check the Product ID is right, then check the model is still in the AI Tools model list. |
| 402 | "Infomaniak says your account has no credit left." | AI Tools needs a valid credit card and remaining credit. Check the product in the Manager. |
| 429 | "Infomaniak is asking us to slow down." | Wait a minute and press Test again. |
| No answer | "Could not reach Infomaniak." | Your network blocks api.infomaniak.com. Ask IT to allow HTTPS to that address. |
| Format | "That does not look like a whole access key." | The key is one long line with no spaces. Copy it again in one go, without a line break at the end. |
What does a real request on Infomaniak look like?
A messy, everyday job with client names in it, the kind of work this setup is for.
Here is a request someone at a Geneva fiduciary might send to a Locul bot running on Infomaniak:
The family's name, the property and the tax notice stay in Infomaniak's Swiss data centres, and Infomaniak says queries are not recorded.
How fast and how good is Infomaniak in Locul?
We are timing real office tasks on Infomaniak with the recommended model, and the results will be published here.
